About Delgado

Born and raised in Oakland, Delgado has been a professional DJ since 1992 when he started playing at his high school dances. Raised in the “traditional” hip-hop mixing style, which focused on matching beats and scratching, his main musical interest was in reggae. In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles where he worked at numerous clubs and at radio station KSPC. From 1995–1999 he had the most listened to reggae radio show in California, according to Arbitron ratings. He was also the recipient of “DJ of the year” from the LA reggae society, won multiple soundclashes, and his mix cds were selected by the LA Weekly as “mixtape of the year” in the “other genre” category in 1998. At the turn of the millennium, he had weekly residencies at the House of Blues, Key Club, and Century Club, and toured with Eek-A-Mouse, the Wailing Souls, and Freddie McGregor. After being featured in the New York Times in 2003, he moved back to Oakland.
